After earning Business (BBA) and Law (Juris Doctor) degrees  from the University of Wisconsin - Madison I joined The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company ("NM") in 1980.  Over the course my 36 year career with NM, including seven years in London and nearly two years in New York, I covered many types of private investment, including investment grade debt, mezzanine finance, private equity and direct energy.  I retired from NM on June 30, 2016.  Since that time I have remained active consulting to various participants in the PE business.
